Speed FC vs FC Vinohrady
A season opener that announced our intentions loudly and clearly. Five goals, a standing ovation from the two people watching, and a performance that reminded everyone why we're here.
Match Report
If you wanted to know what Speed FC is about in 2025, the season opener against FC Vinohrady was the perfect answer. We were sharp from the first whistle — pressing high, moving fast, and making Vinohrady's defensive structure look like a suggestion rather than a plan.
Jakub Novák opened the scoring with a clinical finish in the 4th minute after a slick one-two with Martin Dvořák. Vinohrady pulled one back against the run of play (annoying, but noted), before Filip Kratochvíl restored the lead with a poacher's effort that he'd have been proud of if he could explain how he was unmarked.
The second half was a statement. Lukáš Horáček played the kind of football that makes you wonder if he's been watching film all week (he hasn't, he just does things). Two more goals, a third Vinohrady consolation that we're choosing to forget, and a 5-2 result that sent a message to the rest of the division.
Simple message: Speed is back. And we brought goals.
Post-Match Thoughts
“I knew from the first five minutes we were going to win. I also knew from the first five minutes I needed more coffee.”
— Jakub Novák, Captain
“Martin just does these things. He sees the pass before anyone else even knows the pass exists. It's almost rude.”
— Lukáš Horáček
